But then, you did so too months ago, when the GCC 4.1 development
cycle was still in stage1/stage2.  Nocona has been around for a
very long time already (I have a Prescott-T myself which is going
to celebrate its second birthday soon), so you've had plenty of
time to make -O2 produce decent code for Nocona, really.  You just
didn't do that.

You still have to fix a few open regressions against 4.2 caused by
this patch, and 4.2 has not even received as much testing as 4.1
so it is almost certain that there are going to be more bugs that
your patch causes or will expose.
