I tried running intltool-update, but it does not seem to be working
properly:
$ LANG=C intltool-update pl

/usr/bin/intltool-extract line 211.
can't open ./../programs/3d/gchem3d.desktop.in: No such file or
directory at /usr/bin/intltool-extract line 211.
can't open ./../programs/calc/gchemcalc.desktop.in: No such file or

can't open ./../programs/crystal/gcrystal.desktop.in: No such file or

can't open ./../programs/paint/gchempaint.desktop.in: No such file or

can't open ./../programs/spectra/gspectrum.desktop.in: No such file or
directory at /usr/bin/intltool-extract line 211.
can't open ./../programs/table/gchemtable.desktop.in: No such file or
directory at /usr/bin/intltool-extract line 211.
xgettext: error while opening "../gnumeric/plugin.xml.in.h" for reading:
No such file or directory
ERROR: xgettext failed to generate PO template file. Please consult
       error message above if there is any.

That is for the svn tree.
