Greetings! Glad your working on this, Tim -- thanks so much! Is there any chance of getting remote ssh access to either your mingw or cygwin machine? If not, that's OK, I'll then suggest edits via email (for the cygwin port) and gdb commands (to investigate mingw sockets.)
