Well, mixing "full-time" automatic ordering with manual ordering would be a problem, but there could be some command to do a one-time sort, which would still be helpful for some users with tons of open files. If not built in to Geany, then perhaps this could be a plugin or something. Another possibility (though probably more work, and Yet Another Setting) would be to have full-time automatic ordering be a user preference.
