Hi!

I've been just trying to reinstall the gears and got the same problem
though it was solved easily. You should do next. On the main page of
gears: http://gears.google.com/ press safari under system requirements
list: Mac (Firefox, Safari) and it will make the download button
available for you.

Also you can just follow this link: 
http://gears.google.com/?platform=mac-safari.
