I have the same problem.

My is Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid.
Firefox is Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/
20090715 Firefox/3.5.1 GTB5.

Google Gear should install in Linux FF.
Is it a Google Gear problem?
