Thing is that Google's Chrome browser and Safari are both based on WebKit. Chrome works fine on 10.6. BTW, gears isn't working on Firefox 3.6 either.
Of course, the no-support-for-snow-leopard thing is pretty much a show stopper on using Gears for any development. Not going to have 30% of the web upgrading themselves into a state that they can't run a Gears- dependent app and then wait for Google to get to it when they get to it.
