Richard,
I updated your geary.appdata.xml file, ran it through appdata-validate,
and have committed it to master. A couple of questions:
* This file doesn't need to be installed, correct? It merely needs to
be present in the tarball?
* It's stored in the /desktop directory. Does GNOME Software search
recursively for the file?

Yes, that's 100% fine for now. I'll be sorting out the translation
bits in a few months when 3.10 is out of the door and I'll add a lot
more details to the spec page. Until then, en_US is fine.
