Unfortunately, you can't configure Geary to work around this. You may be able to configure your server, but I'm unaware of how to do that.

There's two possibilities going forward:

* We do want to allow you to search for starred messages using an extended search specifier (http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/6834)

* We could offer in Geary a local-only Starred folder. In essence, it would simply be a permanent folder that used search to display all your starred conversations.

The first would at least give users the ability to see their starred messages, but the second is probably what we want to have over the long haul. I've ticketed that here: http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/7692

Hi

I'm using a dovecot server which doesn't have a Special folder (as Gmail does). Marking a conversation as starred doesn't make much sense if I can't search all the starred conversations.

How should I configure geary/the server?
Should I create a starred folder? And then how can I say geary to display the starred emails there?

It would be nice if you added this information in the manual. I think that it's important.

Thanks
Federico
