However eloquent, I somehow managed not to get the message over...
There are many possible reasons why people should not buy wild caught
animals. Parasite load may be one of them, but it is not exclusively for
wild caughts. Captive bred animals can also devellop enormous amounts of
parasites and die from them, if not treated well (during transportation and
selling f.i.). In fact, if I would have to choose between a wild-caught
specimen, catched only 24 hours before and a captive bred, residing in a not
particulary good petshop for three weeks, for health-resons, I'd choose the
wild caught.
I am personally do have nothing against the importation of wild caught
animals. It's the amounts and the treatment I am against.
