Hi gang,

Thanks so much to all who wrote words of encouragement recently :)

I wrote a few days ago about Mrs. Hou, the Standing's day gecko that went
downhill literally overnight. There is some minimal improvement.

She's taking Pedialyte off a dropper still (she likes the grape flavored :),
and she did eat a *tiny* bit of baby food, about the size of a dime. She's
also licking the sides of the tank when she's misted (tongue does not look
red).

She is, however, making awkward, jerking movements when she walks, and I'm
concerned about hypo/hyper calcemia. (I'm holding supplements, I can always
restart them. She was supplemented with Mineral I when she was hand fed).

Her color looks very good today (nice and blue), and she seems a lot more
alert and oriented, and active in the tank. If she stays this way today,
we'll try a 'crippled' cricket, so she doesn't have to work to catch it.

What I'm not doing however, is getting my hopes up; she is at least ten
years old.

The male is doing wonderful, but as we all know, they don't have the same
stresses - egg laying, etc. (she hasn't been bred in four years now; she's a
mom to over two dozen babies in the past). She was elevated to 'pet' status
after the male really began beating her up during mating.

We're doing what we can to make her comfortable, and if she does pass to the
great trees in the sky, at least she'll have gone loved and hopefully
somewhat comfortable.
