Thanks, everyone. I will definately take the weaker gecko out and give him his own place. I figured that would be the advice.
This is always the advise in this case, and it is more urgent than most folks realize. I can't tell you how many times I have decided to separate out a Phelsuma, and found it dead before I had the chance.
One more question -- short of being able to see physical characteristics, is there any way to determine the sex?
The old fashioned way - look for pores. These are hard to see in a lot of small Phelsuma species. I usually wait for eggs to form, or not within a year's period. Sometimes that is the best way!
By behavior, perhaps? I've been fascinated watching their flirtations, but I can't tell who's suggesting what... :) ... #2 wiggles and bobs and turns her tail up, while #1 just bobs and follows. I'm guessing #2 is the female?
I am afraid we just don't know enough about this to make a decision about sex based on behavior, other than actually seeing mating! We should talk more about what we see though so we can start to understand things like tail waving, etc. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Lyle.
I found the P. laticauda angularis are even more agressive and I always keep
them in pairs and then still keep an eye on them. P. laticuada are only
slightly less agressive. This year I had a laticauda male beat a female up,
and within four days she died of her injuries. They were a pair that seemed
to get along. I've absolutely found that juveniles practice hierachies.
The less agressive gecko usually looses something: growth, skin, life.
Hey, I've seen that head bobbing behavior ; )
