Hi Julie,

The timing of the article and an abundance of cheap imports is unfortunate.
It was written over a year ago, so it's purely coincidental. I did include
a fair bit about acclimation of wc gex, if anyone actually reads it they have
more than a fighting chance. I started my projects, perhaps foolishly, with
a lot less knowledge than the article contains, the intent is to improve the
chances of wc and cb U. phantasticus and ebenaui. I do fear that the ever-
dropping prices may make Uroplatus more disposable. On the other hand,
I hear from an awful lot of dedicated hobbyists who put an amazing amount
of work into their gex.

Neil

I have gotten a lot of phone calls lately about Uroplatus due to the article in the new Reptiles. I see a shipment of WC must have come in, because folks are selling mass quantities of U. phantasticus and probably other types on kingsnake.com. Bummer for the gex, most folks are not prepared for Uros, especially WCs lke U. phantasticus. My Day Gecko article in Reptiles had the same effect, folks saw the article and were asking me for P. cepediana and other Phelsuma I specifically did not recommend for beginners in the article. I guess no-one thinks they are a beginner! ;) I have seen things drastically improve in the reptile biz over the years, however, some things don't change. Someone is always willing to sell you a reptile they know you will kill in short time. Perhaps there is an article I can write about ethics here. There is no reason for folks to suffer through poor matching of the gex to the people. There are gex for everyone!
