There is a lot of talk about this in aquarium forums. If you are unsure or
don't trust anyone, you would buy the aquarium sealant from a pet shop.
However, GE Silicone I is the same stuff just packaged differently. There
are 2 kinds, doors and windows, and bathroom. The bathroom one has a
fungicide and is not usable. The doors and windows is fine. You just have to
make sure it doesn't read "mildew resistant". Silicone II is also acceptable
as long as it's not mildew resistant. It is actually a stronger hold in dry
air (like 4 times or something) but it is very poor under water and quickly
peels off.

One other note, silicone sealant always reads "Not safe for aquarium use".
This is to avoid liability. I use Silicone I and II in aquaria with no ill
effects even after 5 years. And fishes bathe in whatever leaches out of
silicone sealant.

Mike

Silicone I is silicone rubber and good. Silicone II is 100% silicone with
other latex derivatives, if I understand it correctly.
