I have been writing about my leopard gecko not eating for a month now.
I have been hand feeding baby food and finally got enough for a stool
sample but this was negative. She still has no interest in food and is
more lethargic. The vet said to feed her the baby food every other day
and see what happens and to call him in a week. We are just hoping she
will recover from what ever ails her. We are keeping her warm,
nonstressed and offering meal and wax worms. No one seems to know why
she had this 5cc's of fluid on her abdomen that the vet found on
ultrasound. Does anyone know where to find a scale that measures in
grams?
Lynn

specializes in reptiles. Given him emergency food in a syringe, not
getting
any better, Any suggestions? I hope you don"t mind that i e-mailed you.
Thanks in advance

Hi Petra,
Whenever this happens you have to check the basics, temps, environment,
etc for correctness. Use a good quality reference like a book
specifically focusing on your type of gecko. Internet care sheets are
dandy but only when written well...how is a novice to know this? Any
sick gecko should be isolated and kept on paper towels. Also, not being
within driving distance of a non-domestic vet is not a reason to not
consult one. A fecal still needs to be done, this can be done by any
vet, who will often work with a non-domestic vet. Be sure to check out:
http://www.arav.com/USMembers.htm
and/or
http://www.herpvetconnection.com/
to get a non-domestic to consult with. That should be your first step.
Expect to pay a fee for the service. Let us know how it goes!
