On the User list, there was an extensive thread
regarding file format for PCB and the desire of some
to migrate to XML.
I just want to make sure I understand some of the
issues..
There's two text file formats in PCB and XML would
just
add a new layer and introduce the need for an
additional interpreter.
If I remember correctly, the whole issue regarding
PCB file format came about because of the
need/desire to have backward compatibility with
gscheme and notating devices in PCB. Correct?
I kind of got the impression, that in debunking XML
format, the desire to have interoperability with
gscheme was forgotten?
And then there was some talk about standards for
file formats. and VHDL was mentioned..
Now the discussion is on changing the gui as
a higher issue and to remove athena dependencies.
