You need an up-to-date netlist for "Connects->Optimize rats-nest" to
work right.  It's a great feature even if you are not using the rat
lines to tell you what to connect, because it tells you if your PCB
matches the netlist from your schematic (i.e., if you connect
something that should not be connected or leave something
unconnected.)  You can also disable the nets in the Netlist window, so
it won't draw rat lines for connections you are not ready to make yet.
