I'm testing this on Slackware-current (soon-to-be-10.2). Of course,
I'm also in the situation of needing wxGTK installed. So I let the
installer do it as root. To make matters worse, I'm using the installer
remotely, with X11 tunelling through SSH over DSL. It took 1 hour and
15 minutes just to build wxGTK !! The target machine is a PIII running
at 750 MHz.

The good news is that the installer did not die: it's now doing
libgeda-20050820. It started it over 2 hours ago...

But the thing I don't understand is where the wxGTK library went.
I can see lots of object files in "/usr/local/src/wxGTK-2.6.1"
and libraries in "/usr/local/src/wxGTK-2.6.1/lib". But is that
where they are supposed to be ? The directory "/usr/local/lib"
remained empty.

Ah, sorry, Slackware will stick with gcc 3.3.6, so I can't help
with that aspect of the testing.
