I don't think that rotating the text is the problem. 
Think about rotating a symbol (for example a diode).

There are four different directions of the symbol and personally I think 
the text should stay headup (written from left to right).
I would even prefer to have text only written from bottom up (not top 
down, I'll guess that's a bug) as it is usual on mechanical drawings. 

So I don't have to rotate my head in several directions when viewing 
it ;-).

I think that's a good idea, but it'll make schematics look different on 
different .rc setups.
