Hi all,
I am a former hardware engineer who has spent the last 5 years
doing software. I've recently come back to hardare (specifically
FPGA design) and I'm playing with iverilog and gtkwave.
Damn, I'm impressed. This stuff is really good! Much better
than having to work on windoze.
yeah, I've been quite pleased with Icarus myself. Can't really speak
about gtkwave since I'm not a user of that. You might want to also take
a look at dinotrace which is a VCD (and other format) viewer which works
quite well. It has been around for ages and has received quite a bit
of use. There is also a dinotrace-mode for emacs which can provide some
link between waveforms and source code. Haven't used that much lately
just because my last verilog project was a pretty good while ago.
