This would be useful. The insertion of proper footprint names in gattrib is currently the slowest part (for me anyway) of going from gschem to PCB.
Another thought was even to (optionally) bring up the PCB footprint window with a GUI preview. (Suitably library'fied if possible to avoid code duplication)
