That makes good sense. I guess that "work flow" you just described needs to make it into the feature request for an application using the the new parts DB being discussed. i.e. once a symbol or footprint is located in the "ether" copy it to the "local" custom library. Items in the local library probably need to have a "verified and trusted" flag as well.
