Hi, Currently PCB only supports two layers for footprints, namely a metal layer(s) (pads and pins) and the silkscreen layer. How difficult would it be to extend the number of layers so that extra information such as the courtyard and assembly layers could be included in a footprint?
The file format would have to be extended to allow for this and PCB would have to be able to handle these extra layers, either by automatically adding them, or only displaying them if the board layout has those layers defined. Is anything like this possibly already in development?
