Problem fixed The only thing that worked was to: apt-get purge libgeda-common apt-get install gEDA Then reboot the system
Keep an eye on the suggested packages apt-get install geda-utils pcb libgd-tools I would not suggest fooling with libgd2xpm-dev or libgd2-noxpm-dev I got into a little trouble when I installed noxpm files before. It seems that noxpm translates to no X windows support. Thanks again Peter. I hope this will be helpfull for the next time.
