Yeah, I put the tqfp in but prior to doing the layout a friend
   soldered a few micros to the adapters.  It is probably going to be
   easier to unsolder the chips.

     Why do you need these adapters if you're making your own pcb?  Just
     drop a tqfp44 footprint on your board and be done with it.
