Hi Al, This discussion has completely drifted out of the topic I intended to talk about. Please, do not take my comments as an attack on your project - quite opposite, I like Gnucap and I like to use/test it and occasionally dig into its code. My intention was to point out that I, as a Gnucap user, value stability and feature completeness over performance. That's all. It doesn't mean that stability or feature completeness is rubbish, nor it means that I wouldn't like Gnucap be fast. >> >> ability to probe signals at lower levels of hierarchy, >> > >> > You can. >> >> How to do it without adding probing devices to the circuits? >> Or, how to save all signals or all classes of signals? > > Wildcards????? Sorry, I really don't know how to do it. Can you give me an example of: - saving all node voltages in the entire circuit, - saving e.g. gm's of all MOS transistors in a given subcircuit. > One application with very large circuits that needs a fast > simulator is signal integrity. In reliability checks it's very common to run simulations on RC extracted netlists saving all device currents and node voltages. I agree this is a niche application but it's also a very important one. BTW, if Gnucap could handle circuits with many small series resistors (tracks) better than Spectre it could potentially hook into this field. > Free software is all about community. Although I'm not competent enough to hack the core of Gnucap (still it would be nice to have a detail change log available), I could write some plugins, add tests/examples etc. Cheers, -r. _______________________________________________ geda-user mailing list geda-user@moria.seul.org http://www.seul.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/geda-user
