...which is, or was up until not so long ago, the way most if not all the tutorial examples taught us to use the tools. I totally agree with both "it's not a very good default" and "it's not PCB's default", but if you want to be able to say that it's unqualifiedly not the default then other parts of gEDA need to be let in on that plan. Just sayin' - I haven't had occasion to use gschem/PCB since around this time last year.
