Thanks guys, I finally got it working with 1.8.7 and `--enable-deprecated' as suggested.
Sort of wrong behaviour from guile guys isn't it? Normally if you have an option such like `--disable-deprecated', deprecated code should always get in unless you pass such option, but I haven't either looked at this in depth to see what fails there.
