Terry: I got the same error. All of the normal 'log' output seems to go to the console I launch pcb from.
My layouts are very simple, usually can be contained in 1 or at most 2 layers, and I've found that with autoroute, I end up with many vias (something I try to avoid, as I don't send my boards out to fab, I do them myself). Basically the changes I see going from PCB 1.99j to 1.99n are the failure on the log window and newer part libraries.
