I tried installing it under cygwin and there for example the standard gcc version is still 3.4. I did not want to change the that version and my plan is now to use the appropriate gcc version along with ghdl, but leave the standard gcc version untouched. I haven't ran through that installation yet to see whether I will face other problems that I did not consider with this approach. Cheers, Guenter
