I think that this problem should be fixed at OS level, for example by using encrypted /home filesystem. Encrypted /home is one way to do it, but I consider it normal to have non-encrypted /home and an encrypted area for some files. Hence the notion that data from an area should by default stay in the same area. It seems a bit much to require that all of /home be encrypted to the highest level of protection of any data to be processed. The problem is that the functionality for working with XMP sidecars was added to Exiv2 0.17 which was released 3 months ago. The older versions are comparable to the internal implementation - no XMP support. That means that without recent Exiv2 there are just two options - use the old text files or do not write comments and keywords at all. I don't think that we can hard require Exiv2 0.17 at this time. Given that geeqie itself seems bleeding edge, I don't really see why not, but I can see the logic behind your point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Geeqie-devel mailing list Geeqie-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/geeqie-devel
