Hmm.. Strange opinion of a debian maintainer. I made many debian
packages now (I am not a official maintainer, however, one of the
packages I made find the way into ubuntu) and I did find it helpfull if
the package still had the packaging informations which I just had to
modify.

However. The words that several tools would not work is just stupid. The
packaging tools of debian need this directory. And the once which
creates a template can also be used to complete it. And the debian
directory comes as path. So it is sensless if ther is still a directory
or not.

If a maintainer refuse to use the debian directory from the author he
can simply rm it.

I think, yes. As I use debian in my work I have some motivations to hold
it correct. Also this helps other to fast rebuild there own debian
package from source.

However, I will contact the debian maintainer, Michal ÄihaÅ, to see what
he think about. Looks like he did the same work too.

Regards
   Klaus
