Kiriman teman : At the university I was majoring in international economic relations with a heavy emphasis on trade. Now at the moment, the USA delegation under instructions of a mentally challenged president, is trying to scuttle the NAFTA, which has created 9 million jobs in the US, 7 million jobs in Mexico and 5.5 million jobs in Canada. When the negotiations on NAFTA fail, Canadian dairy farmers stand to lose a lot, but Canada is then free to enter into bilateral trade agreements with other countries to sell the dairy products to China for instance. Whereas the dairy producers of Wisconsin will be hard pressed to align themselves with the America First policy of the boss in the White House, who continues to insist on erecting trade barriers and impose punitive taxes on imports from other nations. A policy which will not go unanswered. And when the 11 nations of the TPP go ahead trading among themselves and with the world at large, or better still join the OBOR and AIIB, this will broaden their scope and trading platform, leaving the USA as a trading nation in the dust. China will more than make up for the slack that the US leaves in the volume of world trade and Europe, the EU will eagerly fall in line for fear of missing a piece of the cake. And so will Canada and Russia and the whole of Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, with the possible exception of Israel, the obedient client of Washington. At least Mexico, the scorned and humiliated NAFTA-partner would be too happy to find new reliable trading friends. So slowly but surely the USA will become irrelevant in a race to the bottom initiated by messrs Trump and friends. Instead it is quite possible that before the bottom is reached there could be a civil war, since there are still decent Republicans who are gritting their teeth since DT has been hijacking and remaking the GOP in his image. And they want to re-take their party. That is enough to spark serious civil disturbances in a country with 310 million weapons among the civilian population. So at the bottom.one might see theTrump Republic end in a smoking ruin of soot and ash. Not exactly his idea of making America great again, I think.
A small additional note Momentarily I am enjoying plump California tomatoes. Nothing against US produce. they cheap and good, especially in cold weather. But if and when Mr. Trump makes them prohibitively expensive and difficult to obtain,Canadian importers and wholesalers will be sourcing tomatoes from Peru, Spain, South Africa,Italy, Morocco, China and the hell with the USA and California.I want my tomatoes at a reasonable price
