I guess it really depends on which green you use.  On the one hand, if
it matches your color scheme (I use a green/black scheme in many
windows as well), you lose the differentiation.  My point is that it
is likely to be difficult to pick a scheme that works for everyone.
Making it configurable by an environment variable should be trivial.
