I am also interested in creating new disk images for Full System simulation.

On the Wiki, there is a reference to a script mkblankimage.sh and a package
called linux-dist.tgz described as "Everything you need to create your own
disk image and compile everything in it from scratch":

However, it appears that the mkblankimage.sh script may have been replaced
by util/gem5img.py, based on these conversations:

Perhaps we can look over the scripts and send updates on what we learn.
