The "Fix KVM on Intel platforms" patch is on stable, it was added here: https://gem5-review.googlesource.com/c/public/gem5/+/12278
The other patch your cherry-picking I'm less sure of, but I dont think it's a relevant problem anymore from what I can ascertain. I apologize that the gem5art documentation is using such an old version of gem5. Have you managed to get this working with the stable branch (version 21.0)?
