Also, if you're using syscall emulation mode, there was some work to
get remote gdb to work there too. I would recommend simple cpu as I've
had some problems with o3. It's also not something that got exercised a
lot, so if you find/fix problems please let us know. To use it,
basically do exactly what you would for full system, but like you said
use your executable instead of the kernel image. Like Nate said though,
this is for SE only.

If you're in full system mode, I'm pretty sure that this is currently
not possible. It's not impossible though. There are likely to be
some issues with translation step, and you need to keep track of which
process you're in, so that your breakpoints and such only get set on
the process you're debugging. You should just try it and start
hacking on the remote debugger stuff. There's a trace flag that you
can turn on to try to dump some information about what's going on. If
you do get this working, please consider contributing the fixes.

One quick question: I want to debug a program which is
running in the M5. Can i use remote debugger for this?
As wiki says i have to use this command
"gdb-linux-alpha arch/alpha/boot/vmlinux". And also i
should have the kernel source code available
obviously.
Now i dont want to debug kernel. So can i give my
alpha executable name in place of vmlinux? Will it
work? If not, can you please tell me how to do it?
