Boyd,
That would explain it then as I had the music CD in cdrom1 not
cdrom......I'll try it out again in cdrom instead.
Thanks,
Cleve

Cleve,

Music CD's don't get mounted. You will get an error back from 'mount' if you
try to mount them. Only ISO9660 data CD's mount. The way it works is the CD
Player program reads directly from /dev/cdrom and not a mount point in your
directory structure. In which case Gnome might not be looking at /dev/cdrom
it might be looking at something else to get the right drive. If you haven't
already tried, without attempting to mount it, load KDE's cd player from the
menu and see if it will play, it should play. If not then it's possible your
/dev/cdrom link isn't there or is pointing to the wrong device.

If I remember right, Gnome's CD Player has a setting in the options menu
which allows you to configure which device is the cd player. KDE's Player
doesn't have this it is hard coded to look at /dev/cdrom.

If KDE continues to give you trouble you can email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and we will see if we can't get this thing to work :)

Boyd
