Hello Group. A local grade school principal asked me if I could upgrade his laptop. It is an old Twinhead 133. Hardware upgrades are not an option. He is running Win95. I'll bet I can make it seem like I upgraded it by running Linux. I have Libranet (of course), Knoppix, Mandrake (8.3 I think), Redhat, and I am downloading Peanut Linux. The laptop only has a 1.4 G hard drive, and I am not sure if anything but Knoppix and Peanut will even fit on it. I am going to give it a good geek try though. Has anyone in the group loaded Linux on one of these dinosaurs? Twinhead's site does not list actual specs, just capabilities. The chip will do SVGA at 64M colors, but no mention of the actual chipset. Rotten Bums. I am hoping that Libranet detects the equipment correctly. Any concrete suggestions would be appreciated. I will give updates tomorrow after I have attempted the initial install(s). I am going to leave whichever distibution seems to run the fastest on it.
