apropos - search the whatis database for strings
SYNOPSIS
apropos keyword ...
DESCRIPTION
apropos searches a set of database files containing short
descriptions of system commands for keywords and displays
the result on the standard output.
example
[EMAIL PROTECTED] cron.hourly]# apropos ftp
QFtp [qftp] (3qt) - Implements the FTP protocol
copydir [mirrordir] (1) - copy, mirror directory trees via a minimal set
of ch
anges, locally or over FTP, or over a secure tcp connection
fmirror (1) - Mirror directories from ftp servers
ftp (1) - ARPANET file transfer program
etc. etc. etc.
