I don't know if others realize this but the membership dues in CCCC is about the price of a nice two-person dinner.

Based on a quick look at the last year, it is usually the 2nd or 3rd Monday or Tuesday, starts at 1pm or 2pm, and is scheduled for 2 hours. The Clickers website is: http://www.clickers.org/ . The ;link to the Workshop Calendar is on the home page. The Calendar is visible to non-members. It is usually updated well before the end of the prior month, as that schedule is the base for the schedule in the newsletter. Registration for workshops and SIGS, access to the newsletters (pdf), and some other functions require logging into the system with current membership credentials to get to the restricted pages. Unfortunately, there is no separate membership for the Linux SIG. It is open to all Cajun Clickers Computer Club members. Clickers workshops and SIG meetings are open to members, but are not open to non-members. (at one time, the Linux SIG was an exception to this, but I don't believe it is any longer). Membership in Cajun Clickers Computer Club is available in 1, 2 and 3-year lengths with 2- and 3-year options providing savings vs renewals. The form to join Cajun Clickers has a link on the home page. For convenience, the direct link is: http://www.clickers.org/CCCCJoinForm.pdf Workshop Description for Linux Desktop SIG Linux is a free operating system (similar to Windows and MAC OS operating systems) that can be loaded onto your PC. Linux and thousands of other "open source" programs are available from the internet at no cost and no future obligation. This SIG meets monthly to discuss recent events in the Linux world and to help participants use the many varieties of Linux (examples: Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, Linux Mint). Those interested in learning about the Linux system in general are also welcome. You may bring your laptop or computer box if desired. The aim of the LPD towards the general public is to provide biannual and comprehensive information events about Linux for private users who would like to get a first impression of Linux. The aim towards the media is to make the event so big (both nationally and internationally) that the nationwide non-IT media cover it regularly. The aim towards the Linux community is that an LPD event can be so small and easy to organize (even without costs) that really everyone can try to organize an event with good chances of success. The local organizers decide on their own what their event shall be like; we just make suggestions and offer support. You can find a longer description of the concept here: http://www.linux-presentation-day.org/idea/ Are you as an organization interested in participating in the LPD? If not: Are any of your members interested in helping us bring the LPD to the US? This event is very useful for finding new LUG members.
