Community input is a *very* good thing when it comes to selecting a new
Chair. The Chair can have a large impact on the community as a whole, so I
believe it is important to get a feel for what people think. The PMC
filters that down and sends a recommendation to the board, which then
passes a resolution to put the new Chair into place.

New committers and new PMC members are a different matter, which I feel is
best handled via private email (as you (Henri) are aware from my Geronimo
posts :-)
