Aswani, I'm afraid you have to be much more specific about what you are doing in order for us to answer your questions.
Are you using the database restore in the Admin Interface? Are you just restoring a single database or multiple databases? It is possible you selected the Security database as well as your content database, and if it was restored, then you would need the user/pass from the database you backed up (because you just restored it). But that is just a guess. Declan's guess of a filesystem network drive is a good one two, but that would not cause MarkLogic to prompt you (but might cause the OS to prompt you, or just fail).
