Hi Mehul,

You generally add a host to a cluster as part of a fresh installation. If you
already have MarkLogic installed as a single-node, and you want that node to
become part of a different cluster, then you do need to remove all of those
forests. You can shut down the server and delete the data directory to start
fresh. Then, when you bring that node up, you will enter the license key, then
you will get the Join a Cluster screen. See the installation guide for details.

Thanks Mike...

I am puzzled with these statements:
"Leaving a cluster is also a way to switch a host from a single host
environment to a multi-host environment or vice versa."
and
" In a single-host environment, a host cannot leave a cluster because it will
always have forests assigned to it."

ML has following forests created by default during install:
App Services
Documents
Fab
Last Login
Modules
Schemas
Security
Triggers

Do I need to delete them?

Thanks,
Mehul.

This might help:
