Hi Frank, The advantage of XQIB is indeed that you would in theory no longer need to learn JavaScript to add dynamic behavior to you web page. Though, you still need to be aware of how HTML events work, and you still need to know your HTML DOM tree well.
A different approach could be to use XForms. It takes care of a lot of the form-related dynamics of web pages, and there are some good implementation that run in the browser (yes, using JavaScript and/or built-in XSLT capabilities of browsers). It has its own learning-curve though. By the way, many good client-side libraries are written in Javascript, so is XQIB too. Xopus is written in JavaScript, but in such a way that it allows you to do a task (edit XML) without knowing JavaScript (nor much about XML either as a matter of fact). Relatively new is Saxon-CE approach, which uses XML events (mouse clicks and such, just like XForms) to trigger execution of templates. A bit more low-level than XForms, but could in theory give more flexibility. I am hoping Robert Broersma will make his hipster JavaScript XSLT processor available in near future, which could serve as alternative for Saxon-CE.. Apart from all this, there are many, many client-side frameworks that can make your life easy. But not so many that rely on XML standards to the extend the above do, unfortunately..
