If I understand correctly, you are trying to load a file from computer A, into MarkLogic which is running on computer B.
If so, I would recommend using mlcp on computer A, and sending it to MarkLogic on computer B. You can use port 8000 on computer B, with the database parameter: https://docs.marklogic.com/guide/ingestion/content-pump#id_69447
