Does it work if you go to some other, well-known site? For example, https://mail.google.com/ or https://help.marklogic.com/? If I go to those it works for me (8.0-3.2).
Who signed the certificate at the endpoint? Is that CA in the list at Configure > Security > Certificate Authorities? If not, then MarkLogic has no reason to trust the certificate. You can import a new CA if need be.
