Hi Gaël, This refers to the hosts that have MarkLogic installed and running, which participate in the MarkLogic cluster. You could potentially run Hadoop and MarkLogic on the same hosts, but there might be reasons to want to have those separate as well..

You can also see here in the installation guide: http://docs.marklogic.com/guide/installation/procedures#id_98235 E.g. pick any. Just make sure you use host names that can be resolved by the local DNS, and all hosts can see each other..
