There was a former installation on my Mac but I followed

-> Removing ML server and deleted all related files/dirs

~/Library/Application Support/MarkLogic/Data
To entirely remove MarkLogic, remove the following directories:

~/Library/MarkLogic
~/Library/Application Support/MarkLogic
~/Library/StartupItems/MarkLogic
~/Library/PreferencePanes/MarkLogic.prefPane
