OK - so I've just run avast's virus check on all of the (Windows) J802 installation, including addons.

It reports one threat, in wget.exe as Jasmin Pascal found, severity "high", status Threat: Win32:Malware-gen . The exe file is dated 25/5/14, size 335872 (on disk).

Going backwards, the same is reported for J801, wget.exe file dated14/2/14, size 335872; and for J602, wget.exe dated 18/1/2007, size 335872; no sign of trouble in J601, but I can't find a wget.exe file there anyway.

So I've just installed AVG 2014, free version. It reports nothing amiss with any of my three, probably identical, copies of wget.exe .

So it does look to me like another false positive for AVAST. Mine "talks like a Pirate", and currently is behaving rather like one!

It seems as though J's copy of wget.exe just got flagged by avast anti virus as
being infected by malware-Gen. This applies to all versions of J.

I'm not 100% sure it is a false positive because I found out about it while
avast stopped J701's copy of wget from launching without any action on my part
to initiate this (through rundll). Does J7 periodically check for updates on
its own?
